MEETINGS AND ACTIVITIES
CURRENT SUNDAY SCHOOL SERIES:
Summer Study: All Paul, Y’all
It’s an “all Paul, y’all” summer at Caldwell as both our Sunday morning
and Agape study groups are focused on the Apostle Paul. As the author of
up to half of the New Testament, Paul’s influence on the early church –
and the church today – can hardly be understated. His epistles, or
letters, to various churches that he helped start, support or guide
contain some of scripture’s most poetic and instructive passages.
Every Sunday through July, the Adult Sunday School class, fondly known as
the “Red Bus” class, is studying Reading Paul, by Michael J. Gorman. The
book extracts eight “big ideas” of Paul’s from his various letters and
relates them to the Christian life in the 21st century. The Red Bus meets
every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the “Upper Room” above the Shelby Room.
The Agape study group will be viewing a series of videos named Eclipsing
Empire: Paul, Rome and the Kingdom of God, hosted by modern theologians
Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan as they trace the apostles
first-century footsteps through the Roman Empire. The next Agape meeting
will be July 13 at 5:30 p.m. for a pot-luck dinner and video viewing.
Both groups welcome any who would like to join in this study of one of the
greatest influences on Christianity.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING :
